Outstanding collection of articles form the past 60+ years on our favourite subject... Hot Rods. Great thought provoking words on why we do what we do as well as how it all started and how this hobby, nee obsession, has evolved. A must for any Metro Roder!
This book is a haphazard collection of mostly second rate articles from old car magazines about hot rods and custom cars. The editors don't even introduce the selections by explaining who the authors are or why the selections were included in the book. They have a very limited vision of their duties and minimal insights into the hot rod culture. Their previous books are on John Deere tractors, a cookbook, and country wisdom.

There are a few quality pieces like a portion of The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flaked Streamline Baby by Tom Wolfe. The other selections range from ordinary to awful. If you aren't familiar with the work of artist Robert Williams you will find his selection confusing.

The strongest message of the book is how amateurish the writing in magazines like Car Craft, Rod & Custom, Hot Rod Magazine, and Street Rod Quarterly has been for decades.
I thought that this would be a "hard to find" book, but was happy to
see it available. Book arrived in great shape.

I had heard of the book and checked it out at the bookstore. It looked like something that I would enjoy, so I put it on my Christmas "Wish List" . I also had my wife order an extra one for my brother as a Christmas gift for him.
Great book for things you don't normally hear about. Behind the scenes information about the history of famous cars. Good book for a rainy day.
Received it, read it, loved some of the stories, some were so-so, but in all, I liked the book and recommend it.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is a collection of previously published articles regarding hot rodding. Not every article was a gem, but the majority are interesting and provide a look at hot rodding through the decades. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the history of hot rodding.
This is a nice mix of chapters from published books and complete articles all relating to Hot Rods of various time periods and styles. There's something in here for every hot rodder- whether you're interested in Street Rods or traditional Hot Rods. It's nice that it isn't all from the same author, too. With the different writers there is a good mix of writing styles and stories. This instantly became one of my favorite car books.
